In this edition of Parallax Views I speak with filmmaker Rolfe Kanefsky in advance of the June 12th Blu-Ray release of his latest feature, the raucous horror-comedy romp Bus Party to Hell.
In our discussion we touch on how Rolfe developed a passion for melding horror with comedy, his pre-Scream meta-horror/comedy debut feature There's Nothing Out There, and The Hazing starring horror icon Brad Dourif (the voice of Chucky the killer doll in the Child's Play franchise) and scream queen (as well as Kanefsky regular) Tiffany Shepis (Victor Crowley, Tales of Halloween). Then we move onto Rolfe's latest movie Bus Party to Hell, a gonzo terror tale featuring Tara Reid (The Big Lebowski, American Pie, Sharknado) about a a group of partiers whose trip to Burning Man goes awry when they're menaced by a Satanic cannibal cult and monsters in the desolate desert. From there we transition to Rolfe's upcoming projects. First, there's the vampire flick Sunset Society, which Rolfe guest directed a segment for and features Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister and Ron Jeremy. After that Rolfe fills us in on Art of the Dead featuring Tara Reid and Richard Grieco (21 Jump Street) which he just finished shooting! And finally Rolfe offers his advice to aspiring young filmmakers.
Be sure to check out Bus Party to Hell when it makes its Blu-Ray debut on June 12th!
